We were back on the hills of theCapepeninsula this weekend for the 4th league race. The course was very much like the Cobra 2 weeks ago but the opposite direction. The race turned out to be like an interval session, very hard on the hills and slow in between. After just a few kilometres we hit the first big climb, Ou Kaapse weg, the group splitted and I was in the 2nd bunch at the top. At the bottom of the next climb on Black hill I managed to attack and bridge over to the first group. The rest of the bunch came back to us later and the same happened again on Smitsvinkel and on Slangkop. So starting Ou Kaapse from the other side the whole bunch was together and that is where the race was decided.Sharonrode away from me near the top when a guy attacked, I could not lift the speed that much from what we were already doing. With 3km to go I saw them but too far away. Since the other girls were behind I could roll over the line in second position.
I think I might still hold on to the leader’s jersey, we must wait until the official results are out.
Last week it was decided that Thule will be my new sponsor for this season. It especially feels good to represent them since they are fromSweden, my home country! I will be a very proud ambassador and I was happy to be able to give them a podium in my first race in their kit. Thank you Thule SouthAfrica!
Finally crossing the finish line after all the hills....:-)
Me, Sharon and Leana on the podium
