This weekend was a 3 day stage race in my home town, Falun. It was going to be nice to race at home, lots of people I know and not needing to travel to the race. Unfortunately I had a bit of a cold the days before and was not really sure if I should race or not. Last minute I decided to do the race.
Friday evening was a team time trail. It was only 6 girls in my category which was a bit sad, so I took the races as training. I did the TT together with Pia, a veteran from Falun (for you in Stellenbosch, it was Pia that came to see me in November), and two other girls that I had never met before. So a bit strange to do a race with people you dont know. Well, we did well and finished about 3 minutes ahead of the next team.
Saturday was a Kermes race, you do laps but the lap is a bit longer then a normal criterium. We did 8 laps on a 8km long course and we started together with the boys 15-16 years. The first laps were slow and on the third lap the boys attacked and I was the only girl that could stay with them, so won by 7 minutes today!!!
The race was not on time, it was on points and your place was your point so you wanted as little as possible. So meaning that the race was still open on Sunday. It was a new Kermes race, this time we did 5 laps on a 12km course, and a bit more hilly than the first day. The race was about the same as the day before, I got away and worked with the boys and finished a few minutes ahead of the girls. So a good training weekend.
See some pictures below from the race. I also put a picture of my new TT bike that I picked up on Saturday.
Tomorrow I leave for Czech republic to race the Gracia - Orlova UCI stage race Thursday - Sunday.
